Tabukina, born in the southern Rak’tikan Greatword, was one of three triplets born under the diety, Ixchel. Upon maturing, the elders in her village arranged for her to mate with a visiting Jack. She vehemently refused, and ran away from home. Her family gave chase, pushing her to run far outside of the wood’s boundary and into Il Mheg. Fairies, sensing an intruder in their territory, where quick to capture her. After days of deliberation, the fairies decided to banish her from the First altogether. They sent Tabukina to the Source with ease, but did not realize she would be spending nearly a lifetime of Aether during the journey to Hydaelyn.The fairy’s magick had dropped her in The Fringes of Eorzea. Not even speaking common language, she was taken in by a tribe of Ananta. They taught Tabukina how to speak the language of Eorzea, as well as how to weave and goldsmith. She used these trades along with her skill of hunting and dance to begin trading and entertaining during trips to Gridania. While building a strong bond with her Ananta tribe, their witch soon informed Tabukina of her weak Aether. Through the witch, Tabukina learned she only had 10 Hyuran left to live at most. Begging the witch for guidance on how to extend her life, she was pointed in the direction of Ul’dah and told to consult the Thaumaturges' Guild.Tabukina then set out on a pilgrimage to seek guidance from all magick mentors and scholars across the continent. Traveling from Gridania, to Ul’dah, and to Limsa Lominsa in the span of 2 years, no one could offer her a solution. The Conjurer’s Guild in Limsa suggested she consult the Academies of Ishgard. Putting her aversion to the cold aside, the Vii sailed to Ishgard. Her sincerity and fear softened the hearts of the Professors of the Athenaeum Astrologicum, and she was soon given access to their libraries. It was there she met an Elezen named Pierre. They formed a fast friendship, and upon learning of her shortened lifespan, offered to introduce her to a Elezen Priestess named Grenat.However, this Priestess had no affiliation with the Holy-See. A terrorist in the eyes of the Ishgardian Inquisition, Grenat was a cult leader who had hidden away the semi-dead skeleton of a dragon deep inside the catacombs below Ishgard. The bone marrow of the dragon still oozed thick, black blood even in death. The blood was able to stop the use of Aether and magicks around it. By injecting the blood into the skin like tattoo ink, cultists were able to better attempt to study and use Dynamis as their source of power instead of Aether. Though the cult’s end goal was to revive the dragon and level the kingdom of Ishgard, upon meeting Tabukina, Grenat realized the Vii’s weak Aether could prove useful.Through ritual, Grenat would propose their souls join as one. Tabukina could have Grenat’s long life, and the cult leader would live inside of Tabukina’s spirit and have use of her weak Aether for more potent Dynamis use in order to revive the cult’s dragon goddess. To prove their abilities, the cult used their abilities to successfully summon Tabukina’s twin brother from The First to be with her in The Source. Convinced of their power, Tabukina agreed to joining with Grenat and began her own study of Dynamis while they prepared. Shortly before the ritual was to take place, however, the cult leader was captured by the Inquisition.Determined to continue with the ritual, Tabukina rallied the help her brother and most trusted friends to break Grenat out of prison. The mission was a failure. They were caught, and Grenat’s physical form was killed in the process. Assuming Tabukina intended to kill their leader, the cult immediately began their pursuit of Tabukina and her friends, determined to kill her friends and join Tabukina with their leader's spirit. Tabukina fled to Kugane. For months she kept a low profile before relocating to Shirogane.It was there the cult caught up with them. As Tabukina reached the end of her Aether, barely clinging to life, her bodyguard and former cult member was forced to use cultist magick to steal a child’s Aether and give it to the dying Vii woman. This alerted the cultist of their location, and they were ambushed. In one night, Tabukina watched as her friends, brother, and lover were eviscerated at the hands of a scythe wielding cultist. Giving their lives to let her escape, she ran to the Shirogane docks. Stealing a docked Thavnarian boat, Tabukina slowly drifted away from the island. With no knowledge of sailing, Tabukina was carried away by the Ruby Sea currents. Sailing aimlessly, Tabukina grieved the immeasurable loss of her loved ones.Exhausted and entirely broken, Tabukina now considers giving herself over to the cultists without a fight. Anything to stop all the loss.
